ROLES:

DAKOTA – Female, tomboy/androgynous type, age 12–14, small for her age. Quiet, emotionally layered, feels pressure to prove herself. White/Caucasian/Eastern European. 5-6 days of shooting// $250/day + 20% agency fee, Lodging for out of town talent. NOTE: Open to 18+ to play mid teens. Must appear young in both build/stature and look. SPECIAL SKILLS: Comfortable with fight choreography. All characters handle a prop firearm. Mature content includes strong language. 

CONNER – Male, 16–18, tall and broad. Dominant older brother who masks insecurity with aggression. All types. White/Caucasian/Eastern European. 4-6 days of shooting// $250/day + 20% agency fee, Lodging for out of town talent.  NOTE: Prefer over 18 to play younger. Open to all. SPECIAL SKILLS: Comfortable learning fight choreography. All characters handle a prop firearm. Mature content includes strong language.

DAD– Male, 30s–50s. Ex-military, emotionally repressed, enforcer of family tradition.
- Masculine, hardened by the world, spent whole life outdoors / off the grid, rugged, strong. White/Caucasian/Eastern European.  2-3 days// $200/day + 20% Agency Fee (if applicable), Lodging for out of town talent. SPECIAL SKILLS: Comfortable learning fight choreography. All characters handle a prop firearm. Mature content includes strong language. 

ABE– Male, 5-8 years old. Youngest sibling, a follower. Idolizes his older brother and father. White/Caucasian/Eastern European.  1-2 days// $200/day + 20% Agency Fee (if applicable), Lodging for out of town talent. SPECIAL SKILLS: Mature content, includes strong language.

STORYLINE:

First Kill is a 15-minute-long short film that follows thirteen year old girl Dakota and her desire to belong in her family of all men. Coming from generations of male hunters, each boy in the family must complete his “First Kill” in order to earn his place on the family tree mural and be initiated into manhood.

When her older brother Connor completes his first kill, she becomes envious of the bond forming between her brothers and father. Dakota is determined to get on the wall as well but must conceal her motives. In the early hours of the morning, Dakota convinces Conner to set out into the woods with their father’s shotgun. What starts as playful sibling games takes a dark turn.

 

SPECIAL NOTE: Director is seeking experienced and “diamond in the rough” talent. Seeking honest portrayals whether that comes from pro actors or fresh faces. Would like to see professional talent and “real people”.
